Over the last couple of years, I’ve heard so many horror stories about the loan modification process I was very reluctant to jump in, thinking the frustration I would experience would eventually be replaced with disappointment when:
1) the loan modification was denied
2) The offered modification wouldn’t be sufficient to help me keep my house.
But the ease of completing the package and the latest government figures on the success of the HAFA program have made me “cautiously optimistic” that something good will come of this.
Each month the government releases figures on the progress of its Making Home Affordable Program and each month the number of modifications completed, both trial and permanent, continues to grow. Also growing is the number of modifications that include principal reductions. (more…)

Temecula Real Estate – HAFA a first person point of view Week 3
Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010Temecula Real Estate Market – a first person view of HAFA Week 2
Friday, June 11th, 2010To see the previoous posts on this subjectWe’ve been in the HAFA process for a full week now and BofA, as promised, sent the loan modification package which I received on Wednesday.

Temecula Real Estate -Veterans in Temecula to get loan modification help
Sunday, June 6th, 2010The family atmosphere of Temecula Valley has made it a magnet for many active duty military and veterans. Affordable housing and VA financing enabled many of them to achieve the dream of homeownership that wouldn’t have been possible in the pricier areas of San Diego and Orange County.
And just like many of the other homeowners in Temecula, veterans are struggling to make their payments and facing foreclosure. Well it appears that help is on the way.
VA loans historically have had among the lowest default rates because:
1) Veterans tended to take a lot of pride in homeownership
2) If they did lose the house in foreclosure they would owe the Veterans Administration for a portion of the loss.
But until last week they weren’t eligible for mortgage relief under the Obama adminstration’s HAFA/HAMP programs.
